Shuffleboard or Slidestick?

March 1994

In another dream I had to drop off the garbage for another shop. (This is a callback from another dream, about the garbage and getting a key.) Marlyn D dropped my off in front of her husband’s house and told me to go around and get the key from her father. I went around to the back yard and saw a lot of people back there, some doing yard work, some in a pool.

I saw Bob Carmen watering something down.

I asked her father for the key so I could dump this garbage out and someone who overheard my question answered. He said I could not bring this garbage over to him like this because it was a regular hefty bag and they needed to be color coordinated.

Everyone put down what they were doing to come over and help out.

I had no idea what they were talking about, but went along with it. I did not want to be there at all, so agreed to everything to get it over with.

I recognized only one of the guy, it was Debbie’s cousin Cindy’s friend who helped us move her mattress, the one with one hand.

A truck was started and the bag of garbage was tossed down on the driveway, and the truck began running over it, flattening it. Everybody was all into it. They went back and forth with the truck and really flattened it. It looked like now a long rolled up rug which they were pounding into the driveway.

At one point, Ralph’s (Marilyn’s husband) saw that his truck was in the way and gave it a push and it rolled into the neighbors house but no one paid any attention to it.

They took one more pass of the garbage and then went back to what it was they we doing. I looked down at the garbage and it now looked like an old rug which had been unfurled and simply pressed into the driveway. to cover the pavement.

Debbie D then showed up and wanted me to come with her, but I just wanted to leave.

Then Donald K showed up and said he was here to do some work, but did not want to at all. We were suddenly talking and standing in front of a large tractor of some sort. Don asked me if I was afraid to go to physical therapy and I said yes. He then asked me to join him and his football playing buddies next Saturday. I assumed it was to play football, but he said no. He said we were to meet at a new hotel in Center City and play schuffle baord, only he called it something else, like slidestick or something. He asked if i was good at it, and I said I don’t even think I know of anyone good at this. I did not think anyone played that seriously.
